About National Freight & Drayage

From port to final destination. One logistics partner.

About National Freight & Drayage

National Freight & Drayage is a logistics provider based in Long Beach, California, near the Port of Long Beach and the Port of Los Angeles. We handle the U.S. side of imports: pulling containers from the terminals, moving cargo in bond, unloading and handling freight, storing it, and trucking it to its final destination.

Most importers juggle several providers between the vessel and their customer: a drayage carrier, a warehouse, a transloader, a trucking broker. Every handoff between them is a chance for a missed last free day or a container left sitting. We built our operation so those steps can stay with one team.

How we work

These are the habits that keep port freight moving and keep invoices predictable.

  • We check before we dispatch. Holds, availability and appointment status are confirmed before a truck goes to the terminal, because a wasted trip costs you a turn and sometimes a day of free time.
  • We plan around the clock that matters. Delivery is one deadline; the last free day and the empty return are others. We plan all three.
  • We tell you early when something changes. An exam, a rolled vessel or a closed dock is easier to work around with a day's notice than an hour's.
  • We quote the full move. Storage, chassis, waiting time and other charges that usually show up later are discussed up front.
  • We work alongside your customs broker. A licensed customs broker files entries; we coordinate on release status and in-bond paperwork so freight moves when it is cleared.

Who we work with

Our customers are importers, freight forwarders and customs brokers who need a dependable team on the ground at the ports, along with retailers, e-commerce sellers and manufacturers whose inventory arrives by ocean container.

Forwarders and brokers often use us as their local operation in Long Beach, handling drayage, CFS and bonded work on behalf of their own clients. Direct importers tend to use us for the whole chain from terminal to warehouse to customer.

Why a Long Beach port logistics company

Location matters in port logistics. A container worked a short distance from the terminal is emptied and returned sooner than one hauled across the region first, which limits demurrage and per diem. Being a port logistics company in Long Beach also lets us serve both San Pedro Bay ports from one base.

Our home ports are the Port of Long Beach and the Port of Los Angeles. We deliver throughout Southern California and move freight nationwide.

What to expect from National Freight & Drayage

Being clear about scope saves time on both sides. Here is how we fit with the other parties on an import.

  • Your customs broker files entries, classifies goods and advises on duty. We work alongside the broker; we do not file entries.
  • Your ocean carrier or NVOCC sets free time and bills demurrage and detention. We plan pickups and returns around that free time and keep the records you need to check invoices.
  • Marine terminals control appointments, holds and gate rules. We check status before dispatching and book appointments on your behalf.
  • We handle the move from terminal release through final delivery: drayage, bonded movement and storage, CFS, transloading, cross-docking, warehousing, inventory management and trucking, with logistics coordination across those steps.

Both, in a practical sense. Our port, warehouse and bonded operations are in Long Beach, and our trucking reaches destinations across the U.S., with Canada and Mexico freight handed off to authorized partner carriers.
